Fantasy Football!

It's that time of the year again for Fantasy Football! Here is the question I have for you - You just pulled the slip out of that hat and you got the #1 pick. Who do you pick and why?

It's a toss-up between Larry Johnson and Shaun Alexander. But, I would go with the youngster who's simply driven by being in the "dog-house" and "wearing diapers" his first couple of season under Vermiel.

What L.J. accomplished the second half of last season is nothing short of astonishment. He averaged 2 TD/game and 151 yds/game. Over the course of the season, he would have broken Eric Dickerson's record as well as the season record for TDs.

There's concern the Chiefs won't be able to run the ball now that Willie Roaf has retired, but L.J. still rushed for over a hundred yards per game when Roaf was injured last season, so that talk is jibberjabberwashy.

I read somewhere, even if you were to decrease L.J.'s stats by 25%, he'd still be leading all rushers in most catagories. That's pretty convincing evidence he's the number one back for 2006.

But, I sure wouldn't be disappointed with Shaun Alexander or even LaDainian Tomlinson. Both of whom are worthy considerations.

With the number one pick I believe I would have to go with Old Faithful – Ladanian Tomlinson. This guy has been the man year in and year out and shoot he even throws TD’s. I think he had 3 last seasons alone. I would like to go with Larry Johnson but I don’t know now with the new offensive coordinator and the loss of Willie Roaf. He is a great running back but I just couldn’t go with him. Alexander is kick ass choice as well but I don’t see him duplicating the season he had last year with again the changes that took place on the O-Line.

LT is the MAN!

Can I really go wrong? Each guy has some issues. LT has a new, young QB which will surely load the line against him. LJ has lost Roaf and gained Herm Edwards and Alexander can't possibly dupe last year, plus he carried it over 400 times. Not a lot of backs can take that two years in a row. I'd go with LT slightly (1800/20tds in an off year, not too shabby)becuase of his edge in receiving skills.

Make that 23 TD’s, he threw for 3 as well pal! LT hands down. That much production in an off year. With Rivers at QB Tomlinson will see the ball a lot more then he did last season, it will be like the old days. Shitty team but Barry Sanders stats, not to mention a bunch of receptions. I see Tomlinson catching 75 passes this season and rushing for 1300-1500 yards easily.

I think I am set even if I go as far as getting the #3 pick in a FFL draft because some poor saps will grab LJ and Alexander and Tomlinson will drop to me. Manning would have to go #4 which is a steal because without Edge he is going to be the Manning we seen 2 years ago with a 35+ TD mark. I gotta go LT, Manning, Johnson then Alexander. Sorry but 400 carries kills ya.

Okay, it's the same few names on all of the lists; LT, SA, LJ, manning, etc...

But suppose you're late in the first round and they're all gone? maybe you pick 10-12...?

If that's the case, who's your pick?

I would probably have to go with a running back 1st before all the goodies are gone. Somebody like Cadilac Williams from Tampa, maybe Tiki Barber if he fell that far down. Ronnie Brown from Miami.

If I was crazy enough to go for a WR or QB with my 1st pick I'd snag TO, Steve Smith, as for QB hmmm.... That is tough... Gotta go RB in the 1st round... I guess maybe Carson Palmer but man he is coming off that injury...

I'd have to go RB in the first round. If I was picking late, you still have some fairly good options available. I think the top 5 RB are

Alexander
Johnson
Tomlinson
Portis
Barber

but others like Ronnie Brown, Steven Jackson, Edgerrin James, Rudi Johnson Brian Westbrook Lamont Jordon...they will all most likely be available.

But in the first round, there may be 1 or 2 QB who fly off the board, Manning for sure but people will probably be crazy enough to go Palmer too (depending on the scoring in that league).

I wouldn't go WR in the first round (unless you were picking last in a 16 team league) so if you had to go WR with that last pick - go for the combo Steve Smith and Jake Delhomme since you'll have pick 16 and 17
