Bring on the Sonics and why... An argument by RED & STEVE

Okay I had this talk with Steve about why I wanted to see the Nuggets win 50 games and how it will benefit the Nuggets. He is saying that it doesn't matter because we are in the playoffs and that it doesn't matter what team we play. This is what I'm trying to get him to understand but he can;t for some reason. It is better for the Nuggets to play the Super Sonics in the 1st round because we will be able to carry momentum to the next round where we might face either the Suns or the Spurs. Steve thinks we should play the the harder team in the 1st round because it doesn't matter. I believe what Steve is failing to realize is that the playoffs are not a race it's a marathon, there is a lot of games to be played and if the Nuggets were to face a team like the Suns or Spurs or even the Mavericks in the 1st round it would either be a loss to that team or at least a grueling drawn out series that could end up hurting us in later rounds. Read what we argued about in this chat session and tell me who sounds like a moron, or at least a Sport Junkie wanna be.

RED says:
think the nuggs can pull 50
Steven says:
No, but they will come close
RED says:
they will do it
RED says:
mark my words!
Steven says:
needless to say, I don't care how many wins they have, hope they can carry the momentum into the playoffs
RED says:
its a goal
RED says:
karl put it out there, they do that, then momentum carries them in the playoffs
RED says:
see there you go again thinking the season has nothing to do with the playoffs
Steven says:
Doesn't matter if the Nuggets finish with 45 wins or 50 wins, they are in the playoffs...
Steven says:
the 50 wins was a season goal prior to Karl arriving
RED says:
karl made it a goal
RED says:
read the story I sent you?
RED says:
they win 4 out of next 5 they have a better shot at playing the supersonics
RED says:
that shit matters dude
RED says:
we own them
Steven says:
Karl only brought that goal back up in the lime light because it's a possibility, but that goal was set prior to Karl arriving
RED says:
yea goal = more reason to win it
RED says:
these wins mattewr
Steven says:
So we play the Supersonics in the first round, then what? We play a much better team in the 2nd round
RED says:
yeah and we will be playing at a better level if we beat Seattle
RED says:
momentum
Steven says:
doesn't matter who we play, we are going to have to play the absolute best in all rounds
RED says:
well no shit, but it does matter who we play
Steven says:
To you it may
Steven says:
but I don't care who we play
RED says:
would you rather play the suns right at the end of the season while they are on a roll or aftwer a grueling 7 game series
RED says:
shoot we might be able to sweep the supersonics
Steven says:
It's either the Suns in the first round or the 2nd...you choice
RED says:
nevermind dude you dont get it, its simple logic
Steven says:
The only logic it's about is you wanting to advance as far as you can in the playoffs without facing a team that you know can beat you...which is why you don't want to play Indy, which is why you don't want to face the Suns
Steven says:
I just don't agree with that logic
RED says:
dude they can beat em
Steven says:
You're going to have to face the teams you struggle against and come out on top
Steven says:
why wait
Steven says:
RED says:
dude they can beat em
Steven says:
So why not face them in the first round?
RED says:
dude it's simple, I can't believe you don't get it. Tell me this would you rather play the Spurs with Duncan or without?
Steven says:
With, because then when we beat them with Duncan, we know that we faced their best
Steven says:
you're looking for the easy way out, the easy victory
Steven says:
I'd rather face someone who was at a 100%
RED says:
dude you got it all wrong
Steven says:
How, because I'd rather face a team who is at their best?
Steven says:
How is that wrong?
RED says:
even the Nuggets have said they would rather play the Supersonics, maybe you dont get that the playoffs are a marathon not a race, they need to preserve energy and the less games it takes to get to a round the better your team is
RED says:
they play seattle 1st round, they can build confidence off it
RED says:
then go into PHX
Steven says:
SO because the Nuggets said something, that just makes me wrong?
RED says:
no just showing that your idea iswrong
RED says:
it;s a long playoffs dude
RED says:
it's not just one game
Steven says:
So because the Nuggets said something, that just makes MY IDEA wrong?
RED says:
I thought you were into Hockey?
RED says:
would you want a short series in the 1st round?
Steven says:
I have the same idea about Hockey man, so the NHL has nothing to do with this
Steven says:
I'd want a short series all rounds if possible, but that is up to the team
Steven says:
Not to me
RED says:
or would you like a long 7 game series that might hurt a player on the team
RED says:
its just simple logic, I thought you knowing sports would notice that,
Steven says:
No guanrentee that just because you play a better team overall that the series is going to last longer
Steven says:
Your simple logic is you're looking to get the easy wins
RED says:
and that is the same logic as every head coach in any sport
Steven says:
Right now, with the way the Nugs are playing, we are playing like a #1 seed, doesn't matter who we face
RED says:
hahahah
RED says:
there ya go
Steven says:
it doesn't matter
RED says:
and in that span who beat us twice?
Steven says:
Oh, you're too chicken to play the Suns...thats cool man!
Steven says:
just like indy....
Steven says:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
RED says:
you really dont get it dude
Steven says:
I get it...you're too chicken to go against the best
RED says:
I thought you knew sports
Steven says:
hahahahahahahaha
RED says:
no Id rather take them on in the 2nd round
RED says:
not chicken
Steven says:
luckily for you, the Nugs won't face the Suns in round #1
RED says:
no but id rather avoid the spurs as well
Steven says:
I don't care who we face...bring it on
RED says:
Any nugget fan well that knows basketball and playoff competition would want the Nuggs to face the Sonics in the 1st round
Steven says:
any non-chicken fan wouldn't care who we face in the long run
Steven says:
hahahahahahaha
RED says:
we can beat them, Karl already has a grudge there and it would build us some super confidence and momentum

RED says:
same reason why the formula is for the higher seeds to play lower seeds
RED says:
why do you think playoff, or tournaments are setup that way
Steven says:
because the #1 worked their asses off during the season so they are basically giving them a break
RED says:
the higher seeds play the lower seeds because they want to see what we all seen this year in the ncaa tourney
RED says:
so for the nuggets to win 50
RED says:
(bust there ass to do it)
Steven says:
And how many times does the #1 seed play a #1 seed in the NCAA bracket?
RED says:
we get a higher seed and face the sonics
RED says:
that is why winning 50 is a big thing
Steven says:
you're too focused on the seedings man...seeds don't mean shit once you're in the playoffs
Steven says:
it's a whole new season
RED says:
it basically guarantees us to get a break as you put it

What Red failed to put in all of this jargon BS stuff was the simple fact of this...I'll post it here.

Red says:
yer just disagreeing to disagree
Steve says:
DING DING DING
Steve says:
:-)
Red says:
thanks for waisting my 1st hour of my day

He is trying to prove a point that I could care less about. I'm not a huge basketball fan, I don't pretend to be, so he is trying to argue about something I don't care about.

So I ask, who is the moron for trying to get approval from other people in which one of the participants doesn't give a rats ass who Denver plays?

In the infamous words of one of the best movies of all times...

"I leave it to you Greg, isn't this an indictment on the American society?"

In case you don't recognize it, from National Lampoon's Animal House.

I didnt think I needed to state the obvius but steve wants to know why we want the Nuggets to play the Super Sonics. Sonics haven't won since April 1 and have nothing but injuries (Rashard, Radmanovic, Daniels, Fortson).
