AFC West San Diego Chargers

Finished 2004 season 512-4, 1st place in the AFC West

Key returning starters:
LaDainian Tomlinson - RB
Drew Brees - QB
Antonio Gates - TE
Keenan McCardell - WR
Eric Parker - WR

Probably the most surprising team in the NFL last season, the San Diego Chargers took the AFC West by storm and finished in first. Comeback Player of the Year Drew Brees had a Pro-Bowl season and was awarded such by getting an invite to play in Hawaii. Can the Chargers repeat their performance a year ago?

2004 Stats:
Ranked 10th overall in offense, #5 ranked in AFC
Ranked 18th overall in defense, #10 ranked in AFC

Your thoughts on the San Diego Chargers this upcoming 2005 season...strengths/weaknesses and your prediction on where they will finish in the division.

The Chargers pulled the same stunt in 94 when all of a sudden they climbed from the cellar and won the AFC West. Will that happen again in 2005? I doubt it - The Chargers surprisingly have a solid team, but the focal point of this ball club is around Drew Brees and his performance.

LT will get his yards and TDs, I mean he does average nearly 1500 yards/season and close to 14 TD/season. Gates will be a factor offensively - but I think overall it's up to Brees to lead this team.

Gates cannot become the #1 receiver, Parker and McCardell have to really step up and make plays and Brees has to get them the ball. If they cannot stretch the field vertically, they won't have a whole lot of success.

They do have an ok defense, they were ranked 18th in the NFL last season. Their defense needs to improve if they want to repeat what they were able to last season. I just recall their debacle in Indy last season where they had a huge lead in the 2nd half and blew it badly. Not dogging them, the Colts did that to plenty of teams, but if your team has the lead late into the game, there should be no circumstances where you end up losing.

I hope in most fantasy drafts that LT was your #1 overall pick - he is well worth it and will pay off this season.

Chargers finish 9-7, 3rd place in the AFC West

obviously your lack of football knowledge has once again shined upon us as you can't even give us your opinion on the Chargers. Do me a favor Johnny, before you post again, pull your head out of your anus, wipe it off, go buy the Cliffs notes on NFL football then post something with some intelligence...until then...

Nothing like shitty comments coming from a piece of shit loser

Steve,
The above comment say "Steve was a stupid SOB" did not come from Johhny Sox, it was a prankster causing trouble. Although my posts may not always agree with you or Red, I have never attacked you or judged your football knowledge. I thought that this post was a way for football fans to chat football and give opinions of all types. But I see that the false post caused you to attack all of my previuos posts, you evidently feel that opinions differing from yours show an obvious lack of football knowledge. I had enjoyed this blog but after your attack I will not be posting further, there would be no point as you've shown your lack of respexct to any football opionion that I have.

If that wasn't you I apologize - I was just retaliating because of the comments which I thought you did post.

I could care less if you don't agree with me...obviously Red and I completely disagree on many things (proof is in all these post since the blog started)

I have an idea though who did say that, so moving forward myself on this blog, I will simply just post my thoughts and if someone wants to attack me, then fuck it...let em.

Of couse that was not me! Thats's why I wrote the previous post. WE all should have different spins, read the many magazines, Peter King , Dr Z, Cris Carter, etc, all pick different teams and all fail as much as we do. I've been an NFL fan for 35 years, I follow it closely, I don't need "cliff notes". Remember, if some idiot attacks you or Red, it is definitely not me!! We can have a competition, see my post under AZ Cardinals.
