Debate Topic #2 of 2 Golf

The two best golfers in the world today, Vijay Singh and Tiger Woods, we can even add in Ernie Els into the mix if we wanted to. Here's the discussion - Can Vijay repeat his unbelievable year from 2004? Can Tiger Woods get back on track from a disastrous year in 2004?
What are your thoughts on the 4 Majors this year as well as your predictions? If you don’t know golf too well, this might be hard to answer.

Unlike james i know a lot about gofl. one of my friends used to be on the pga tour until a accident hurt his knee. Vijay had a great year winning 9 times including a major and making over 10 millon dollars. He also puts in a lot of time on the range practicing and practicing so I do look for a repeat performance. Woods on the other hand did have a bad year. i think he will change that around this season. he won't have ayear like he did in 2000 but look for him tobe a contender during the majors
and speaking of the majors my predictions are
Masters- Tiger Woods
us Open- Ernie Els
British- Vijay Singh
Tour Championship- Phil Mickelson

Unlike Mike, I don't know anybody in the PGA, or the NFL, or do I have season tickets, or do I profess to know everything about everything, but in the end why does it matter if you know somebody. Why do you try to justify your sports knowledge by simply associating yourself with every subject that comes up. Sports knowledge is one from experience, idea's, original thought, FACTUAL circumstances. Until this man can come up with any one of those mentioned, he will never convince me that he is nothing but a fake!
Note to Mike- WE DON'T GIVE A RATS ASS WHO THE HELL YOU THINK YOU KNOW! It may work with your high school buddies, telling them that you are all mighty because you know somebody who knows somebody, it doesn't work here. If you wonder why you find yourself in constant turmoil on this site, just look at your posts.

The fact is Golf is an individual sport. Vijay has bee consistantly improving his game for a number of years. That's why he is #1. Tiger woods in the last 3 years has gone through several swing coachs, several caddies, and he got married. Those are individual circumstances that change his individual game. There is no doubt in anyone's mind that if Tiger focused his mind, and comitted fully to the game of golf like he did from 1997 to about 2002, that he would still be the best player in the world. Until he does that, Vijay will be the #1 player in the world.

Golf is stupid. Let's get back to football...

I agree Hulk, Golf is a rather boring subject. At least it's better than baseball.

Interesting view James, and I happen to agree with you that Woods will never get back to his old-self. As an individual sport, he would need to devote more hours/day to his game. With that good lookin' wife at home, why in the hell would you want to do that?

But Vijay wakes up, goes to the range and spends all day there until it closes. He puts in the hours practicing, but not much for a life. In fact his great caddie last year quit on him saying it wasn't fun for him to caddie for VJ. Can't blame him considering it's all about golf from sun to sun down.

12:13 PM
Blogger Jamezwp said...

BUT! If Tiger decides to devote himself to the game again like he used to, (and I'm not saying he is) but if he did, don't you beleive he has what it takes to be #1 again.

12:16 PM
Blogger Steve said...

Yes, even though that would take him over a year to achieve the #1 ranking.

james golf may be an individual sport but you cant use excuse that woods does not practice enough. Steve as far as his wife is she isnot all that pretty. And I do know someone who was on the pga tour, he teach me how to play golf. right now i average about 5 over per round. knowing people isn't a crime James. I cannot help it that makes me more knowledgeable about the sport then you

Blogger Jamezwp said...

Mike, that sure was some intellectual stuff there. You state that Vijay had a good year, ok we knew that. You said you THINK Tiger will have a good year. And then gave us some off the wall predictions. All the while destroying the english language and ignoring all rules of proper written english. I thought you were "280lbs of pure genius" and "smarter than me".

12:22 PM
Blogger Jamezwp said...

Once again, how does "knowing someone" warrant you to say you know more about the sport? Please answer!

Blogger RED said...

Golf stinks! But it is a sport and I have respect for the game. I think the Tigers dominant days are over.

I think Tigers game has went bad since him and his trainer Fuzzy Wallnuts or whatever broke up.

Blogger Jamezwp said...

You're right, Tigers dominant days are over (for now). He still is the most gifted golfer in the world, he is still in his 20's, and if he ever gets tired of banging his new bride and if he decides he wants to focus on being the best player in the world again, there is really no stopping him.

Look here jamezwp! The only reason I can't type as good is because of a injuredf hand that I have and it effects me while typing. If I were to write you would truly see my grammatical geniosity. Honestly have you ever golfed before?

12:38 PM
Blogger Arvada Mike said...

it warrents more knowledge because i spend more time around the sport. like my season tickets with the broncos, i have seen game after game so being around the sport makes me smarter then you.

Blogger Jamezwp said...

Oh my god! "grammatical geneocity". Once agian, it's I'm smarter THAN you. NOT I'm smarter THEN you. Anyway, all hail Mikes prediction that "he thinks Tiger will have a good year because he knows somebody who was once in the PGA, and that makes him smarter THAN me". WOW!, that was deep man. I submit to your superior knowledge. I conceed, I cannot possibly compete with that. I quit.

Blogger Jamezwp said...

Dude, are you like on injured reserve for computer programming. You can't type because of an injured hand? WHAT!, how the hell do you program a computer then. You are one funny son-of-a-gun Mike! yeeeee haaaaw.

Well I know more about Tiger. Did you have any idea about this!
Tiger's dad, who saw him through almost every phase of his golf development. His dad used to sit by Tiger's bed at night and give him confidence, telling him how good he was going to be at life and at golf. But his dad never pushed him. Tiger did what he did because he wanted to. The other big influence in his life was his mother. For years she used to get up early in the morning and drive him to tournament sites all around the state of California. She used to keep score and never complain about how much time it all took. He says they were both very important in the development of his golf.

I've been playing golf since I was five years old. At best, when I was praticing every day and shooting roughly 36 holes a day- I was a four handicap. I very much doubt you are shooting rounds of 75 and 76 on an average.

If you are, then you MUST have a pic of you and your golfing buddies somewhere 'cause five handicappers don't just play golf for the hell of it...

Wow guys, this is deep. Mike, you are a swine...let me take that back since I am judging this debate. I'll say you're a swine after the contest is over with.

Here is what I say about Tiger… will succeed and expand across all racial barriers…. I admire him… for establishing a new plateau, a higher ground, if you will…. I really do believe he was put here for a bigger reason than just to play golf. I don't think that he is a god, but I do believe that he was sent by One."

1:06 PM
Blogger Steve said...

Actually Cosmic, I normally shoot a 78, 79, so a 75 isn't that much more difficult. If I could make a few damn putts, I'd be down there too.

1:06 PM
Blogger Jamezwp said...

But they don't get mulligans in the PGA Steve.

1:08 PM
Blogger Steve said...

HAHAHA, James, I don't take mulligans. We haven't played a round in years, we should hit the links sometimes.

Last year I won the Men's Club Championship by shooting consecutive 80's, actually was two "decent" rounds, but I could have easily shot a 75 if I made some short putts. Want to see the website showing I won?

1:09 PM
Blogger Jamezwp said...

Yeah let's play next time I'm down and it's nice. Maybe you should quit your day job and focus on going pro. Hey, Mike knows some people in the PGA maybe he can help get you started. And if you need a coach, Mike is a 5 handicap, I'm sure he can help you since he is so knowledgable and everything.

1:12 PM
Blogger Arvada Mike said...

Steve, If you want me to coach you I can. I am actually a pretty good coach and was able to coach Larry Bird back in 87. So if your interested just drop me a line.

Mike, no thanks! I think you are just full of shit - you have diarrhea dripping out of your ears. If you want to play football sometime I’ll sure take on your “high-school friends” and I’m more then confident enough to beat you in a round of golf.

Mike, for real dude, if what you are saying is true, you are sitting on a gold mine. You are like the Forrest Gump of sports. Allow me to retort, you know Bill Cowher personally and talk to him on the phone, you were a bat boy for the Yankees, you have friends oin the PGA, you are an injured computer programmer, you have been a Broncos season ticket holder for 10 years. I'm sure you know somebody in Hollywood, maybe you should hook it up and make a movie about yourself.

1:17 PM

HOLY SHIT!, AND YOU COACHED LARRY BIRD! You didn't tell us that. Dude, you HAVE to make a movie.

I am in my late 40's pal and I do know a lot of people. The reason i met so many stars was because of my job that I had at Sports Illustrated in the late 80's. I know Leonard Nimoy too. i am not bull shitting and if you want I can send the pics to be posted.

Do you know anybody in Hollywood? Why would Larry Bird hire a Sports Illustrated ex-football player to coach him. He was one of the greatest basketball players of all time in 87'. Why would he hire you? hmmmm.....

I know a couple of people myself, Mario Fatafehi and Quintin Griffin, but I sure as hell didn't coach any of them, or do anything else you "claim" to have done.

This is possibly the biggest bunch of crap ever. A) Mike claims he lives in Arvada, which everyone knows is a giant retirement home. No one under the age of 60 lives in Arvada. And B) if he just learned how to play golf, and coached Larry Bird back in 1987, how the hell is that possible? Was 1987 recent?

Right now I give the big edge to Vijay. Compare their swings. It's not even close. Vijay's temperment is much more conducive to winning right now too. Though tiger did show he can focus at the end of the Buick.

I figure Tiger will win 1 maybe 2 tourneys, Vijay will win 5 unless their swings change considerably. Where's Phil? Where's Ernie? Look out for Reteif.

We had been blogging trying to find how our world sees computers and PCs. Computer has been a lifeline for us. Your site provides some of the best examples of this sort and we will bookmark yours. Another one we found was and appears to be related to yours is computer training site/blog. It pretty much covers computer training related stuff.

If you are looking for the best information available about baseball parlay and other related subjects, this blog, Debate Topic #2 of 2 Golf is a great place to start. Steve has been kind enough to set up a place where all can meet and learn about baseball parlay and while posting to help others. Thanks and good luck!
