What's the plan Shannahan?

Well the Broncos traded there 22nd pick to the 49ers for 2 second round picks giving the Broncos 7 pick in the 1st 4 rounds. What exactly is Shannahans plans? Your opinions?

I personally think we need to address the running back situation more then the wide receiver situation which has been brought up many times. I honestly don't think that Ron Dayne & Tatum Bell are the backs to look to when we need a tough 3 yards. Yes Dayne has proved himself to be a good back in a few situations last season, but it really wasn't enough to convince me. As for bell, well he has that slasher speed that is reminiscing of Clinton Portis but he didn't show up in the playoffs. I also think we need to address the corner back situation on the other side, I love the two new rookies but once again they kind of coked on that side when Pittsburgh was able to pick on them in the AFC Championship game.

No way, Broncos need a WR. Rod Smith is old enough to be my grandpa.

I agree we need a WR, but it isn't as big of a priority as RB

I beg to differ. The Broncos need a Qb you guys! Did you foget who turned the ball over 3 times in the AFC Champ game. Come on get a clue you snake fans!

Okay 2st off half the QB's you mention are already taken so welcome to yesterday's news pal. And perhaps you need to take a good look at the qb draft class. Jay Cutler would be a perfect QB to choose and by addressing that need the Broncos can atleast look to the futire with somebody othet that Brad Van Pelt. Cmon kid... open your eyes. it's not really all that stoopid of a decision. Don't be suprised if Denver snags up DeAngelo Williams before any WR like Jackson or Holmes. Get with the times little man.

The Broncs need to look at RB James, how can you put that as the final priority man, cmon! You really have faith in Dayne and Bell? Give me a break! Dayne is a washup and Tatum is only good for 12 carries a game, we need a work horse! This DeAngelo who rushed for over 2k last season is a workhorse type, i guarantee we snag him up. Thats about all I can agree with Sam on that .

My 2 cents...

Denver at this time does not need to address their QB situation. Sam, you know I agree that Plummer isn't the All-pro Denver is used to having and he probably isn't the guy who is going to get us to the Super Bowl year-after-year. Sure he turned the ball over 3 times in that playoff game, but the defense was smoked too, rushing attack was halted, lot of things went wrong. Here's the thing, only 1 team wins the Super Bowl when all is said and done, so if you're going to say Denver needs a new QB because he isn't getting it done, then shouldn't we look at Peyton Manning? How many Super Bowls has he been to? Then the Colts need to find someone better to take them to promise land.

Red, I can't agree with you that the Broncos need to focus their attention on a RB right now. You were concerned after Portis left, after TD was injured...it's almost safe to say it's more the system than the runner. We have no idea what Dayne is capable of, thus a little twilight zone back to Droughns. In the games Dayne did play in, he impressed me.

I'm going to agree with Jamezwp on this one. We do need to address the WR situation. We have an aging #1 WR, a possible-deep-threat but not so much of a play-maker with #2 Lelie...then who? The reason to jump on a solid WR now is to build for the future. Smith isn't going to be around for much longer (I think he's done after this season) and the thoughts of having Lelie be our #1 guy just scares me. The RB situation, we have two backs who are capable of big games, Bell obviously proved it and Dayne did show some promising light.

But I think Denver's biggest #2 concern is the Safety position. Lynch has lost a step in deep coverage, great run support. Their CB situation is doing fine, as long as they remain healthy, Williams and Bailey make a great pair. Denver was able to keep intact a lot of their defense so that is only going to help them out, but the safety position needs to be addressed. I like Ferguson, but we'll need to find a replacement for Lynch real soon!

As far as Denver's draft, remember it's about the salary cap too...many people didn't like trading away a first round pick for 2 later rounds, but Denver probably can't fit two first round picks in the rookie salary cap (percentage based upon available salary cap of the team). And also, quantity is sometimes better than unknown quality at that position. Generally within a draft, you have your top prospects, the top 20 lets say, the rest through round 3 are all good but average players, little higher risks so to speak and that is what Denver was faced with.

Regarding their #1 pick...most people want to see Jackson end up here, sure he's probably the best prospect of a very weak WR class, but he's also a junior and had a rollercoaster season. On the flip side, he's still young, you can mold him better, plus his body is in better shape.

I would be very surprised to see Jay Cutler fall to #15, but if he does, I say pick his ass up. He's going to be a good Qb in this league, great arm.

But I also like Sinorice Moss from "The-U", guy is fast as hell, great hands, and hell, the Canes have had a knack for producing solid WR's in the NFL.

I believe the Broncos will get a WR or two in the draft, just not the 1st round. I personally would like to see them get a running back with the 1st pick. Imagine what we could do with a top notch running back versus a nobody turned 1000 yard rusher. Not to say a average RB that runs for 1000 yards is bad. I'd just like to see an ultra type back that can catch 40 balls and rush for over 1000, been a while since we had one of those types. The WR class is just too weak to waste a 1st round pick on one. Tell you the truth I bet we all get suprised and they draft defense with there 1st round pick. I can see them doing that. Wonder if AJ Hawk can slip down to us.

Don't get me wrong now there James. I agree our recieving corp is not that good. I still think Rod Smith can contribute for 75 receptions and a good 1000 yards. As for Lelie, well yeah he hasn't shown much of anything to us. He wouldn't be bad as a #3 reciever. I'd just hate to see a bust out of the WR position as we have been notorius in doing the past several years. What I would have liked to see is the Broncos go out and get a good free agent WR. Perhaps they can still snag up Jevon Walker. I was hoping we could have got Owens or even Eric Moulds. I have confidence that Shannahan can get us a good RB in the middle rounds and turn him into a 1000 yard back or even turn Dayne into a 1000 yard back. But we need a playmaker who can take the pressure off our WR's and mid to deep passing game with a Ultra type back that can catch 40 - 50 out of the backfield. mike Anderson caught 18 balls out of the backfield last season. Sorry but that isn't helping the passing game as far as production goes. Either way you look at it the Broncos made a huge stride getting to the AFC Championship game last season and we lost because Rothlesbooger through for 21 of 29 and 275 yards. We lost that game because we couldn't stop a 3rd down conversion if our lives depended on it and not to mention 4 turn overs by PLUMMER!

Trash can is there because you can delete your own post.

That would be sweet if AJ Hawk can slip to #15, but he'll be gone in the top 10 - that guy is flat out sick. DeAngelo Williams, well, good solid little runner, but I don't think he's going to be a play-maker in the league.

My vote is for Chad Jackson - Javon Walker is too risky to consider right now (that was a severe injury).

Well I can see DeAngelo Williams being the pick above Jackson, also I can see us snagging up Winston Justice, the OL from USC if we don't get Williams. Shit I can see them going defense before they draft a WR. We are Notorius for drafting losers when it comes to WR in the draft IE Marcus Nash! Man I really hope if they don't go RB 1st, that Michael Huff, the Safety from Texas falls down to the Broncos, now that would be sweet. But they WILL not go WR in the 1st round man. There is way too much talent at other positions to go after Chad (not Johnson) Jackson. Shoot we might get the second best DE in the draft behind Mario (I'll get picked in the top 5) Williams from NorthCarolina State and grab Tamba Hali from Penn State.
