The Buck Stops Here!
The Broncos and the Chargers kickoff this weekend at Invesco Field (can't even call it Mile High anymore) at 2:15 MTN. This is a huge game for both teams and it's going to be a little brighter for the Chargers with the return of Antonio Gates. The Broncos Defense which is currently ranked last in the NFL have a lot of making up to do to there fans after getting whooped in Miami this past weekend. If the Broncos want to be successful they must establish a tough running game which in my thought can be helped if they actually ACTIVATE Ron Dayne, I mean c'mon he is only the active leading rusher in NCAA history and not only that had probably the best pre season off paper and on paper if you don't count Mike Weedman Andersons 73 yard gallop in which he probably pulled something loose on his dive into the end zone. Like I said the Broncos need to come out running and letting Ron Dayne do the work, if Denver can take a page out of the book of the Pittsburgh Steelers and try limiting the number of pass attempts by Plummer (48 in week one) they can win, by the way Big Ben only tossed the rock 11 times and completed 9 of them. if some guy by the name of Willie Parker can run wild on a chump team like the Titans well so can the Broncos at home vs. the Chargers.
As for the Chargers, they looked good in week one vs. the Cowboys, yeah there special teams stunk it up worse then Ashley Lelie did on a 1 yard pass through his hands that looked like he tried to catch it with his elbows, but that's neither here nor there. The Chargers can put away there goal line woes now that MR. TD himself Antonio Gates is back which in my opinion the out come would have been very different vs. the Cowboys if he were in just on those last 4 plays. I really hope that John lynch can lay a hit on Gates reminisance of the hit he layed on Dallas Clark last season. My prediction is Denver 31, San Diego 28 in a barn burner. Your thoughts and predictions?

Of course, since I'm the devil's foodcake advocate, I'm going to disagree with Red. All ready bashin' on ole Mike Anderson...
Why did Denver get their asses handed to them in Miami? They were simply outplayed - The Dolphins showed up and made the Broncos look silly.
48 pases in 1 week for Plummer isn't that big of a deal with you think about WHY he had that many passes...because we were getting our monkey asses kicked up and down the field so passing becomes a necessity. What the Broncos need to do is take Tatum Bell out of goaline situations...he just doesn't have what it takes to get that one yard in a goal line situation. That's where we needed Dayne.
Dayne should be activated this week though, because it appears Anderson is out. If Bell or Dayne have a good game on the ground, expect Shanahan to stick with it.
But if want to examine the Broncos loss, we can look at many factors besides the offense...in which Red just BRIEFLY touched upon it...the defense! The defense just looked dumb. Amazing how a defense can get 3 turnovers yet still lose by 24.
But moving right along...this week against the Chargers -tough matchup, should be one of the best of the week. Here's the bottom line, Denver has always played San Diego well. Even last season, when Denver lost in San Diego by 3 points, that was a game which Denver should have easily won.
Will that happen again? Don't know, game is in Denver, home field. Contrary to what Red thinks about the Chargers/Cowboys game, the Cowboys flat out were a better team that day. Antonio Gates or not, the way the Cowboys played that day, I still think they would have won. He MIGHT have made a difference on that last drive, but remember this, the Cowboys' DB's knocked the ball out everytime - it's not like Gates is Superman, I think the same thing would have happened.
But anyway...hard to gauge anything on week #1, we'll know more after week #2 when one AFC West team is looking at a two game deficit (probably two teams after Kansas City beats the shit out of the Raiders).
Just say what you feel Steve. We are interested in your true feelings instead of your advocate feelings.

Funny you say that but unfortunatly Steve genuinly disagrees with me on this one so shove it.
Somebody is gonna get mad....
pitty...pitty...pitty, or should I say tisk...tisk...tisk
Which I'm sure this "Sports Junkies Fan" individual is someone I probably know, is too scared to reveal his/her identity and leave comments to "be real".
I'm not mad, just disappointed that Sports Junkies Fan takes hypocrisy to a whole new level.
Word.
I would just like to say that I caught about half the game, and I'm disappointed how the Broncos pussyfooted to win. I was expecting them to win, but not like that. They really didn't deserve to win.
A bit off topic, but I'm a Broncos fan living in Philadelphia, and they never explain what the Invesco/Mile High crown chants after a great Denver play. Can you help a brotha out?
It sounds like "Hey . . .Are . . .You!" I know that's not it, but I never get an explanation.
