Finally!

Finally the Eagles manned up and booted TO from the Eagles. This just goes to show you that sometimes words do speak louder then action as TO proved that theory because no matter how good and talented of a reciever he was his mouth made it mean nothing. Your thoughts on the whole situation and what teams might be going after TO in 06?

Here's what I think: The Eagles fucked up.
That's right. That's what I said. And you know what? The team that gets him next (because you know there are teams out there licking their chops), will get exactly what they pay for: A loudmouthed locker room distraction who may be the greatest player of this era. He's the Ty Cobb of today's NFL.
The Eagles fucked up because they went out and got Terrell Owens and then acted surprised when he ran his mouth. That's like marrying a hooker and acting surprised when she starts banging your friends for a little cash on the side. The egg is on their faces. Everyone knew what T.O. was all about, and if not, all they had to do was have a chat with Jeff Garcia or Steve Mariucci. So to Andy Reid and the Eagles brass: you reaped exactly what you sewed. Have fun wallowing in last place in your division.

Ouch Anonymous...brutal comments - BUT, you hit it right on the money! This situation does boil down to a mistake by the Eagles:
1) Thinking that if TO was in a different/winning situation with a better QB he wouldn't shoot his mouth off
2) Certainly didn't do their homework regarding TO off the field, which they should have consulted management from the 49ers
3) Heck, shouldn't that trade situation that was initially made with the Ravens been a wake up call?

What I won't agree with is that he is the, or may be the greatest player of this era...best WR yes, but not overall player.

As far as any other team - can you possibly think of a team willing to bring this kind of a distraction to their team? TO has burned 3 teams in his NFL career and obviously has no remorse for it. He has clearly demonstrated that he puts himself ahead of the team and the game and that is a serious cancer to any ball club.

Sure there are a few GM's out there licking their chops, thinking, "yes, I am the one who can change TO" but I would be surprised any team would make a high end trade for that. You know the Eagles are going to be asking for a lot in return because he is the best WR in the game today, but really, how much has his stock dropped with other programs?

I say NFL Europe is looking for a good receiver as well as the CFL...maybe even Arena, go get him Colorado Crush!!!!

Well, this might come as a shock, but I'm beginning to wonder if T.O. isn't a victim of ESPN's cunning abuse. I know, I know- you must be saying to yourself, "Cosmic has finally gone off the deep end." Well, I think I might be right. Here's why:

1. We all know ESPN has a monopoly on American sports. When you get to be as big as ESPN, you get to do a little something called turning power into persuasion. When you have as much power as ESPN does in the world of sports, then you also get to control some of the outcome.

But, I'll get back to that in a moment.

2. ESPN is located in New York. They are Giants fans first, Jets fans second. Most of the employees who work for ESPN come from the NY area. Giants fans hate the Eagles. Giants fans hate the 49'ers as well.

3. T.O. has a history of being disruptive and egotistical. T.O. is an egomaniac who loves to stir the waters everywhere he goes. This is no suprise, but he DEMANDS attention instead of commanding it. This is a very important thing to know. ESPN knows he DEMANDS attention, therefore they are more than willing to give it to him.

Still with me?

Remember back to the early days of T.O. and his off-colored remarks and off field antics? Well, ESPN was more than happy to expose all of those tantrums. Giants fans would love nothing more than to hear T.O. mouthing off all the time. It was pure entertainment.
But, T.O. thought he was bigger than ESPN, so ESPN made it their ever-living goal to phuck things up for T.O.

Want proof?

A couple of weeks ago, ESPN reported T.O. had an ankle injury before the Eagles ever knew anything. You see, the Philadelphia Eagles never reported an ankle injury- ESPN did. Why would ESPN report such thing? 'Cause they were in the heat of the moment with all of this T.O. debacle. They knew they got the knife in him and that they could now finish him off. And it worked.

Philly didn't just reprimand T.O. for being T.O. As a single person, he was disruptive to the organization, but it was something they could handle. But, what the organization did lose control of - was the disruption to the organization itself from the outside media. They saw the effects it was having on the other players, so they gave in and they got rid of the pest. Not because they couldn't harness him individually, but because they were losing control of their own organization.

Now, let's go back to a few days ago when T.O. does a public apology with his infamous agent.

It shouldn't surprise anyone he made a public apology to the entire organization and coach Reid. He should have done so before, and I'm not sure why he didn't, but he's T.O. He's bigger than everyone.

Well, the next day, ESPN is now reporting "poor T.O." "T.O. got shafted" "Philly is being too harsh on T.O."

ESPN reversed itself and immediately started in with sympathetic tales of T.O. and his punishment! Kinda like rubbing salt into the wounds. They are all laughing backstage, and they are loving every minute of it. They phucked up a rival. But, more importantly- they proved how powerful they are, and how powerful they can be.

Everyone loves a conspiracy theorist and I must admit I like your theory a lot Ken and agree with it to a point. Never the less the fact here is that the Eagles stepped up and made a decision that may harm them but they still showed class and a strong arm by giving him the boot. Is it fair to the fans of the Eagles is the question... TO in 7 game accumulated 6 TD's & 763 yards. At the time more then half of McNabbs TD's were thrown to TO. McNabb was the player who really choked here and not the Eagles by signing TO. The Philly Faithful will soon be dropping Boos on McNabb if he doesn't perform up to expectations. I as a Denver fan have seen players overcome great odds after being beat down year after year in big games (Elway) but then overcome those odds. The Eagles brought in TO to help and couldn't get the job done because of McNabb. Now TO must pay because he spoke up too much about his quarterback that couldn't bring up his share of the deal.

Interesting theory, I don't agree with it, but atleast you gave sufficient sub plots to back it up...TO is just TO and he will be no matter what team he is playing with.

Sure ESPN has a monopoly over the sports world, but it doesn't matter if a report comes up to you and mentions whatever, as a player you cannot say the things he did or do the things he did, so it boils down to his actions.

And another thing - of course ESPN is laughing behind the scenes...why, because it's all about the $$$$$ - You see, with these stories coming about, their ratings are extremely high, which means more profits for them.

Whether or not your theory is actually true doesn't mean jack shit when it comes down to the player making statements as he did. There have been plenty of interviews in which the player rejected questions, refused to say something - why? Because they are smart, TO isn't so TO must pay, no conspiracy behind it, just a loud mouthed ass SOB who, which I'm personally thankful for, is finally getting punished

Actually ESPN's corporate headquarters are located in Bristol Conn.

Nice try.

And I penned the original comment that started the string, BTW. Forgot to put down my handle. Sorry.

What really matters is the Broncos will gag it up in the playoffs again and Indy will TOTALLY smoke them in the dome, Denver sucks outside of their own park, Colts will run it up as we have the past two years, what a bunch of weiners!
Now that New England is banged up its clear sailing to Detroit!
Denver may be beat first round by the Bungles anyways!

HAHAHA...what a most ignorant message I have ever seen.

Sure, the Colts are arguably the best team in teh NFL right now, but don't think for 1 second that they are clear sailing...they haven't beat anybody worthy - We will find out a lot about their character these next two weeks, which I am sure the Colts will win atleast 1, if not both of those games...

But back to retard's comments, the Colts may beat the Broncos, heck, they may "smoke" them but don't be counting your chickens before they hatch - I don't have to remind you of how many #1 seeds didn't make it to the Super Bowl in recent years

While I think T.O. hasn't handled himself well (for the past 5 years or so), it's nice to see that the whole world hasn't been brainwashed into thinking that it's all T.O.'s fault. I agree with a lot of the comments here. I'm tired of people talking about how great McNabb and the Eagles are (rather, were). McNabb is soft and Andy Reid is overrated (becoming the new Mike Martz, perhaps?).

And ESPN is largely to blame as well. I mean, they created this story. They know T.O. is an attention whore (mentioned here already). They baited him so bad with that Favre question. But, of course, it's all T.O.'s fault. He's an ass, right? Ridiculous. All of them are at fault.

from your comment: Where's Ricky Williams where?

As far as TO: It's like everyone knew this was coming. It's so sad. There will be plenty of teams that will want TO right now. Green Bay, Miami, Cleveland, and KC are some examples. Money won't be a option unless there's a bidding war because TO will NOT get his money
