I think Lelie has potential to be a good reciever. I mean I don't see him going across the middle as much as i would liek but is that because the plays aren't drawn up for him to do so? I mean are they protecting him from injury or what? he comes up with some nasty snags though I must admit that. I think the kid would do good under some dort of Mike Martz like system. I think he's be the shit on turf.
Lelie I think embodies an excellent receiver, just doesn't show himself as an excellent receiver. I think we can all agree that he does have the potential to put up big numbers (i.e 2004 when he has 54 catches for 1084 yards, 7 TD) - that was like a taste of what he could do...to a Broncos fan, it was like teasing a fat kid by holding a cup-cake to his face but having his mouth taped shut.
Here is why he'll never be a #1 receiver:
1) Does not run good routes 2) Can't seem to shake off bump-and-run coverage 3) Can't go across the middle
Lelie would be a good fit in Oakland where their receivers like to go deep every play, but for a ball control offense like Denver, we need receivers willing to cut across the middle of the field and to run sharpe routes (especially on bootlegs).

Time has run out for Lelie to "develop." He's a third-stringer that should be returning kicks.
